Maryland Acupuncture Physicians

A Natural Alternative
The Chinese have practiced acupuncture and Chinese herbal therapy for more than 2000 years. Traditional Chinese Medicine treats individuals by influencing the flow of "Qi" through distinct pathways in the body. These pathways are referred to as "meridians" or "channels" and they cover the body in a network similar to the network of blood and lymphatic vessels. Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific points along these meridians. Chinese Herbs and acupuncture are used to restore health by moving Qi to areas where it is deficient and away from areas where it is in excess. Although Chinese medicine has gained popularity in the West primarily for its treatment of pain, it is establishing itself as an effective alternative therapy for many health problems. Chinese medicine can treat acute and chronic conditions and may also be used to promote health. Modern science cannot explain how acupuncture or Chinese herbal therapy works. Recent research suggests that acupuncture may stimulate the release of endorphins (our body’s natural painkillers).

Acu-Herb Clinic
Using acupuncture to treat diseases has a recorded history of more than 2000 years in China. Today Acupuncture is practiced widely all over the world. In United States, a panel of National Institute of Health endorsed use of acupuncture in November, 1997. The panel concluded that acupuncture is an effective treatment for certain kinds of pain and a variety of other conditions. Acupuncture needles are very thin and are made from stainless steel. Inserting the needle in the skin is not painful. In this clinic all needles are sterile and used only once. Most people will only feel a slight sting when the needle is inserted into the skin. During treatment, you may feel some bloating, soreness or numbness, which indicates that the needles are in precise locations needed. Since everyone is different, they may each respond differently to the treatment. It is normal that different people or even the same person may experience different sensations during different treatments. Acupuncture is very safe. First of all, only sterile disposable needles are used. And conventional techniques are strictly observed in the clinic. This eliminates the possibility of cross infections.

Acupuncture Associates of Columbia
Traditional Five Element Acupuncture is a powerful system of medicine designed to work with people on a body, mind and spirit level. Practiced for over 3000 years in China, the benefit of acupuncture treatment is now clearly recognized and well documented in western medical journals and in medical institutions across the United States. Because of its relatively low cost and its noninvasive nature, acupuncture has become a highly popular form of complementary health care. In this gentle form of medicine, each treatment is designed uniquely to address imbalance as it is specifically experienced by each individual. Symptoms are viewed in relationship to the totality of a person in order to explore the root cause of an illness or imbalance.Receiving acupuncture treatment can be a unique and powerful healing experience. The first appointment is typically a two-hour consultation. During this visit we will speak at length about your health concerns and address any questions you may have about acupuncture and the healing process. We will also discuss your health and personal history in detail, and perform a gentle, non-invasive physical examination.

Acupuncture Clinic of Maryland
Performed by a highly trained and experienced practitioner, acupuncture is one of the safest medical treatments available today. It carries none of the risks of surgery, and unlike drugs it causes no toxic reactions. At a time when the dangerous long-term effects of many common drugs are becoming widely known, more and more physicians are recommending acupuncture as a treatment that does not introduce chemicals into the body. Acupuncture itself causes no allergic reaction, and it is especially valuable for people who cannot tolerate the medication prescribes for them.some concern has been expressed about the possibility of transmitting disease by all purpose needles. However, we have been using disposable needles since 1983, and the qualified acupuncturist carefully follows aseptic procedures.
